At an exclusive launch held at Taj Samudra Hotel Colombo, Sony Electronics announced their new lineup of 4K HDR TVs. These TVs are designed to deliver even wider brightness range and higher contrast. The new BRAVIA™ TVs utilize the use of 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) content with the combination of their unique image processors and display device technologies. The launch was graced by Sony International (Singapore) Ltd – Sri Lanka Representative Office – Branch Head, Justin Wong, Singer Sri Lanka PLC Chairman Mohan Pandithage and Singer Sri Lanka PLC Group CEO Asoka Pieris.
With the latest advancements in video streaming services and 4K UHD Blu-ray along with console gaming such as the PlayStation®4, accurate image processing plays quite an important part delivering a clear picture that is in line with the specifications set by both filmmakers and game developers. The 4K HDR Processor X1™ Extreme from Sony’s flagship Z series has been widely acclaimed for its ability to produce lifelike picture with superb texture, depth, colour, and contrast, bringing a significant leap forward in the space of HDR. With its two new TV series, Sony introduces 4K HDR Processor X1™ Extreme’s power to a broader audience.
Sony also introduced the BRAVIA OLED 4K HDR TV. The A1 series of this lineup offers a redesigned visual experience combining the superior picture quality of OLED, X1 Extreme (the world’s first sound system in large screen TV), and also its small foot print. That’s not all though. The A1 Series BRAVIA OLED TVs also feature the world’s first large screen TV capable of emitting sound from the screen itself. Taking advantage of the OLED’s backlight-less structure, Sony developed a new Acoustic Surface™ technology which can emanate sound directly from the screen itself. This allows a perfect unification of picture and sound unattainable by conventional TVs.
In order to provide a wider selection of 4K HDR displays, Sony introduced the X93E series featuring the Slim Backlight Drive+, an improved LED backlight technology allowing more precise and accurate local diming control compared to Slim Backlight Drive. This means superior brightness and exceptional contrast. In fact, 10 times the XDR contrast of a conventional LED TV.
Sony Electronics also announced an additional array of 4K HDR and Full-HD HDR televisions for retail in 2017. They all incorporate Sony’s proprietary technologies including the newly-developed 4K HDR processor X1 (X90E and X85E series only) to deliver industry-leading picture quality. Sony continues to bring excitement to customers through the enrichment of visual expression by incorporating a powerful mix of display device technologies with its own image processing technology. The products will be available i through Singer Plus, Singer Mega, Sisil World and dealers island wide.
